Club Description

About the Club

The Colonial History Interpreter's Club (CHIC) is an organization of historic interpreters and reenactors who are interested in developing their skills at first-person and third-person historic reenactment.  Although we focus on 18th century British-American history, individuals who are interested in developing reenactment and interpretation skills for other places and times are welcome to join.

Who is Welcome

CHIC welcomes all who wish to develop their skills at historic interpretation and reenactment and are willing to help others develop such skills.  Although we do not anticipate excluding any individual if a club member is found to be disruptive of the club's goals he or she may be excluded from membership by the club leadership.

Dues

Dues are $10 per year.  These funds are used to cover incidental costs pertaining to the club including copying, web hosting expenses, compensating workshop presenters, etc.

Meetings

We hold periodic meetings to develop our craft.  Currently, meetings are held in Provo, Utah, but other locations are possible.  For members not able to attend in person, we will record the workshop portions of monthly meetings and make them available on this website.

Rules

  1. Members shall conduct themselves with dignity at all club meetings and at all events where the club has a formal presence.
  2. Members shall not disparage one another at any time.
  3. No edged weapons, or live ammunition, is permitted at CHIC activities or exhibits.

Other rules will be added as the need arises.
Named Exhibits

Although CHIC does not sponsor events, it does present exhibits at events sponsored by other organizations.  For example, CHIC presents the "Stories in the Garden" exhibit at Colonial Heritage Festival as well as the "Isaiah Thomas Print Shop"

Insurance

Reenactor's insurance is available to club members in good standing.  The current policy is provided by Shoff Darby Insurance Agency.  Currently, the fee for coverage is $10 per year.  This provides coverage $1,000,000 of liability insurance per incident up to a total of $5,000,000 as well as supplemental medical insurance for redactors in the amount of 5,000.

Leadership

At its founding, the club president is Sharon Rogers; club vice-president is Gove Allen.  The president shall, from time to time,  implement such additional organizational structure as needed to effectively manage the club.
